We already have the vanity that we purchased two years ago for a bathroom in our old home. I’ve been obsessed with this black marble sink, so I know that needs to play a role in the design and those black tiles…I already snagged those at Habitat Restore last week! WOOHOO! And why not throw a swan faucet in for some unexpected fun! You only live once, right?! These people loved knock down texture. Due to our mutual discomfort with heights, Cookie and I decided to hire this job out and got a local drywall wizard to smooth out these chunky walls. The silver lining of hiring it out was that we were able to ditch the trim as well to give this room clean and modern facelift. Win for me! We simply snagged some piping at Lowe’s, fitted it all together. Gave it a good clean and rattle canned it a satin black. We already had these reclaimed pieces of wood in our garage. The key is to use light coats and allow to dry in between. I had seen another blogger/designer, Christin with Terra + Tint, add a skirt to her tub quite a while back and when I saw that wood trim, I knew we needed wood elsewhere to bring it all together. I ran to Lowe's and grabbed some inexpensive hemlock boards and went to work. This was an easy project and adds a lot of dimension to the space. Dreary and sad beige walls and trim. Not the worst room ever, but it needed some love. We both love how it resembles bamboo adding to the jungle vibe. And it’s different than anything we had seen. This trim was leftover from my nightstand project and it was the perfect amount. Knowing we are likely moving walls around in the future for a bigger remodel, I opted to simply glue the trim on. She then selected the colors and rest of the materials and look from there. This peel and stick wallpaper is from Walls Need Love. I installed this paper on my own, but I highly recommend having a helper and preferably someone who will be patient with you when you get pissed off at it! HAHA! Really, though, with wallpaper, I recommend letting go of perfection and just aiming for good enough. Now we needed some trim to go over the wallpaper. We were first going to just do a painted mdf trim, but I didn’t have enough kicking around.
